Fleck

Moonlight and clouds

Fleck

Disturbed by some scuttling shadow
on the white edge of vision,
half-asleep in a city where
 buildings are served
in chocolate slabs,
pieces of crumbling cake
under a sweet spread
of buttercream moon,
I curl up my edges,
dream a fleck of
epicurean raft, floating
a picnic for dragonflies
on canals of
the murmuring night.

  2. Ha. Lovely. I've done one but the Internet is a big hassle here in Kerala-- many power weirdnesses so don't know if I'll get up. Phone doesn't like heat either

  4. Highly descriptive verse wherein we can taste and see and feel all of it. At first I thought Fleck should be hanging out with my Snake, "floating on a raft in the murmuring night". But, alas, I see it's not a he.

  6. What a grand word is epicurean and this gently floating poem! All of us should experience a night like this.

    1. Thanks, G. When you've dieted as long as I have--like my whole life--it's not hard to hallucinate chocolate, baby. Have a great weekend--I will be kicking nothing, but hopefully nothing will be kicking me, so it's all good.

  10. your flow is impeccable. The murmuring night is downright delicious, recalling my own shadowy leaning towards things chocolate.
