Night at the Opera (buffa)
a dream sequence
The grand opera begins;
you approach with a smile,
a many wrinkled twinkle
from the plus size aisle.
Your voice and your ardor
flagrantly contest;
a woman's dry as a prune
before her ears get a rest.
In between acts, nothing
happens in this dream
so why do I wake up
always trying to scream?

A pure fantasy in 55 words with no personal implications, having nothing to do with opera, men, marriage, getting old, weight gain or other nightmares, I assure you. It's all a metaphor for...something. Poetic device. Really.
...or else it could be I just have weird dreams.

well depending on the quality of the opera i am just pleased you did not scream during it...and i swear i told you to stop using pictures of me...
ReplyDelete@ Brian: So, you cover the mohawk up with a wig for formal occasions?
ReplyDeletePast life regression? Very Creative dreams...and artistic!
ReplyDeleteThe 7th and 8th lines slay me.
ReplyDeletePerfect, hedgewitch. I agree with Shay -- those lines are wonderful. Some dreams, though not horrifying on the surface, seem to settle in and leave a strange disquieting residue, don't they?
ReplyDeleteMiss Hedge...
ReplyDeleteFreudian Whimsy!!
This proves that your a bit 'Touched'!
Thanks for clearing that up
Loved your 55
Thanks for Dreaming, Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
lol at your post-note. I love reading about your dreams. wish mine were as interesting.
ReplyDeleteA Night at the Opera is better than A Day at the Races!
ReplyDeleteBuffo? Isn't that the Latin name for toads? No wonder you're screaming - LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, wait... BUFFA? Never mind then.
Thanks all. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHa! Screaming would be the only answer, I think. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI'd be wanting to scream too :)
ReplyDeleteHa - sing away or was that screech ???
