...but you will be back -- all fancy and new! :)
travel well my friend...until we meet againsmiles.
Thanks, all. I have the browser set up, but there is still a lot I need to do. Because the issue on my old pc was hard drive based, I lost all my poetry files after June, which was when I did my last back up, so this time I'm going to find a way to back up in more than one spot and do it religiously. It is complicated though.Several problems confront me: The new computer has been sabotaged with some OS called Windows 8, and it is a travesty which will require me to unlearn everything I know and learn everything from scratch. The new pc was a clearance special--and a pretty good deal, but it doesn't have Word or any other software besides all the garish 'aps' in the Metro start screen, all vying to sell me something, so I will have to see if I can install Office from my Win7 CDs.Assuming that works out, I will have to copy and paste from the blog everything posted from June on. That's the easy part. Then I have to go through my notebooks and transcribe all my unpublished work from my rudimentary scratchings to Word docs, then back them up also. They will never be the same poems that I had already transcribed in my files, but hopefully they will still be poems of some sort. So, I have my work cut out for me. I don;t know what time and energy I will have left for new bloggery, but I will try to visit and stay in touch when I can during this mess. Thanks everyone, for looking in.
Yikes--that is terrible. I d0 not have my blog backed up, which I know is very stupid. I keep considering it and then not doing. It is good that you are diligent. I am sorry for the Word stuff. What a pain. Maybe you can look on it as a chance to revisit things--I do not think I'd be so philosophical but maybe would help. k.
Oh my! That sounds daunting. I have an automatic back up on my mac- Time Machine- connected to a tera byte back up drive (they're cheap now). It backs up everything frequently without my having to do anything. Good luck with this project. Thought of you when I posted my latest poem- When Veil is Thin.
the blue screen of death, reviled globally. were I able I'd cast a recovery spell, or at least pour you a drink. best of luck navigating windows h8te.
Thanks, Michael--I may need a spell *and* a drink before it's all over. Laghin @ windows h8--perfect!
Are you going to burn the old comp on a floating pyre?
Ha! A Viking funeral? No, because I would have to be the dog at its feet. ;_)
