Friday Flash 55 ~ Goodbye Already

The Door

Adios So Long Farewell Goodbye Don’t Let the Door Hit Your Ass
On the Way Out

I seem always to
be saying it;
fainter and fainter,

Good by…..
Any other name I can call
looking at the back of
what’s walking away,
 waving my hand
like the ocean
at the shore.

Grief always running
after something shapeless
that won’t stick

No one there
to hear it
Aright then

November 2010

  1. very good blog, congratulations
    regard from Reus Catalonia
    thank you

  2. Oh wow. This really says it. So true, always saying goodbye to someone or something or some place......."looking at the back of what's walking away." Wonderful.

  3. There is someone I'd love to send this to, but of course, no one would be there to read it. I love the tempo and the feeling of almost-isolation up until the acceptance at the end.

  4. Woman, you write! That was wonderfully crafted and I felt it deep inside.

  5. tight love the dropping of letters in the progression....

  6. Fancy! THAT is adding a load to an already challenging meme. Very nice.

  7. See YOU, in September!!!
Sorry, it reminded me of that Oldie.
    You are so cool...
    I loved your 55 .
Thanks for playing today, and please have a Kick Ass Week-End...Galen

  8. Hellos and goodbyes such a part of life.
Always a hello around the proverbial corner

    Happy weekend sweetie

  9. Joy,

There must be a word for the decreasing letters. Very clever! The message definitely and with wit fits the form. (There's that word again).

  10. And there are too many GOOD things about this poem, Joy!! With all its depth and seriousness, it did have its share of wit, alright!! And I really loved that!!
You go, girl..and have a great weekend..
And don't bother about those goodbyes.. you (and we) will be back before you say 'goo'.. :)
Oh, and by the way, the form you've used in the poem - W.O.W !!! A real neat 55!

  11. like life is - hellos and goodbyes - some we like and some we don't like - i like the brave Go at the end..

  12. This could have turned into just another cyal8tr piece and it was until I saw what you did and it became GREAT! I have not seen anything that cleverly said and done in quite awhile. Sad subject? *shrug* To some. But the evolving de-evolve was FREEKIN' AWESOME!!!!

  13. I loved this. Goodbyes don't always stick...that's what I've found :)

  14. How nice that a poet found my blog so I may discover her poetry! Thank you.

    Aloha from Waikiki
